The latest (2018) edition of the CCID’s Best of Cape Town Central City guide is out, with ideas for over 300 places to enjoy in the CBD to complement 900 others that can be found online.
Published by the CCID in collaboration between its Communications department and New Media Publishing for more than a decade, this guide has become very popular with both locals and visitors alike and highlights the vibrant cross section of offerings the Central City has to offer.
In addition to being a sought-after publication via the various outlets that distribute the guide, it is also distributed in December via The Big Issue.
Explains CCID project coordinator, Aziza Patandin: “We have had this relationship for a number of years, whereby we supply The Big Issue with 15 000 copies, to be bagged together with the magazine’s end-of-year ‘Special Collectors' Edition’. We see it as a way in which to assist vendors to sell this particular issue and add value to The Big Issue offering.”
With a total of 60 000 copies of the guide produced annually, the remainder are distributed free of charge via a variety of outlets, with many being distributed by retailers, restaurants, hotels and visitor information centres, who fall within the CCID footprint.
However, what’s in the guide is just a taste of what’s on offer. According to CCID Communications online coordinator, Scott Arendse: “It complements the CCID’s ‘Explore’ section on our website which features all destinations in the CBD in terms of places to Stay, Eat, Play, Visit, Shop. In addition, the website also has a directory for service industries (Services) and educational institutes (Learn).”
