While the rest of the Central City is still reeling from the fact that May is already here, the Communications department at the Cape Town Central City Improvement District is gearing up for the next edition of its Best of Cape Town Central City guide – the 2019 edition.
Says Aziza Patandin, Communications project coordinator: “While the guide is only published in November, we’ve already had our first meeting with our design and content team at New Media Publishing to discuss the overall approach. This also means that New Media’s advertising team is readying themselves to start putting advertising opportunities together for the 2019 edition.”
A total of 60 000 copies of the very popular guide are printed each year, and distributed free of charge both within the CCID footprint as well as further afield. “Numerous information and tourist visitors’ centres as far as Somerset West, Simonstown and Muizenberg ask for copies of the guide, as well as a number of accommodation establishments outside of our CCID boundaries. It’s excellent exposure not only for the 300 venues that are placed into the guide each year but for all the other thousands of businesses in the Central City.”
Of the 60 000 copies, around 15 000 copies are also made available at no charge to the publishers of The Big Issue magazine, to assist the NGO’s vendors in selling the December bumper issue of the magazine.
With the guide focusing on venues where people can “Eat”, “Shop”, “Play”, “Stay” and “Visit” along with a listing of “Essential Services”, constant reference is made to the CCID website’s “Explore our CBD” section, where all venues in the Central City are listed and kept up to date.
