The Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI), set up in 2001 to grow the Western Cape's craft and design sector, has introduced three new initiatives.
The first is CCDI Creative, a training company that focuses on lessons in problem solving for the corporate workforce. Its workshops teach that creative intelligence is the key to remaining competitive and profitable.
For more information, visit www.ccdicreative.co.za.
The second initiative leverages CCDI's database of craft producers and its role as a conduit between them and corporates. CCDI Connect helps buyers and the conference and events industry procure products from small creative manufacturers via a catalogue of market-ready items. The catalogue includes:
- Corporate and promotional gifts
- Textiles: clothing
- Textiles: soft furnishing
- Furniture and Lighting
- Upcycled products
- Ceramics
- Decor products
- Fashion and accessories
- Health and beauty
- Conference stationary and accessories
CCDI Connect can also help you procure bespoke items. Visit www.ccdi.org.za/page/CCDIConnect.
The third initiative, CCDI Capital, aims to increase growth, jobs and developmental impact in the craft and design sector. It works with corporates, government and development agencies to invest in individual businesses through SMME development programmes, grants, loans and equity. It provides a platform for corporates to invest in small businesses by developing short-, medium- and long-term investment strategies, while maximising B-BBEE points. CCDI believes that SMMEs are vital in growing SA and creating jobs, leading to a strong and inclusive economy.
