The CCID has launched a new Facebook page for Central City stakeholders to find out more about how to stay safe in the Cape Town CBD, and to exchange information on any safety concerns that may arise.
The CCID’s new Facebook page, Safety in the Cape Town Central City, is a membership-based online platform that keeps all stakeholders in the Cape Town CBD aware not only of how the CCID’s Safety & Security teams and their law enforcement partners are working around the clock to keep our CBD streets safe, but will enable members to stay connected with important safety notices they may need to see.
Says CCID online coordinator and member of the organisation’s Communications team, Scott Arendse: “We would like to encourage all our Central City stakeholders to sign up for membership of this page. We often get requests to post information about specific criminal activity that could affect members of the public, or we may receive information about missing persons for whom we should be on the look out. This is now a platform very specifically dedicated to these notifications.”
Manager for Safety & Security, Muneeb “Mo” Hendricks elaborates: “We have therefore really started this Facebook page as a ‘crime watch’ or even better a ‘crime stop’ page, that also cuts right to the heart of what our Safety & Security teams are busy with on a day-to-day basis.
“Our teams are out there day and night, in every type of weather, and are often most active in the hours when many people are at home sleeping in their beds. The CCID never sleeps, and by putting our messages out there, we will not only be informing members of the page about how we spend our time and what we accomplish, but we will also be providing important information to keep all our law-abiding Central City supporters safe while in our downtown. An important part of the role we play is in educating the public as to how they can help us to help them watchdog their own personal safety while in our area.”
