The Cape Town Central City Improvement District (CCID) welcomes a new senior manager, and bids farewell to one of its stars.
A warm welcome goes to Ederies Majiet, who joined the CCID as its business manager in February. This role involves the management of finance, HR and IT, and Ederies takes over from Nazeer Rawoot, who serviced the CCID for nearly a decade.
Says CCID CEO Tasso Evangelinos: “While we were of course very sorry to say goodbye to Nazeer, we are happy to have Ederies on board after a long search for the right candidate well-suited to a non-profit organisation such as a city improvement district.”
A Capetonian through and through, Ederies worked in the financial industry in South Africa for eight years before moving to Australia. After 15 years there – in accounting, finance and related mainly for a multinational engineering company – he returned to Cape Town, where he joined another multinational for a short-term contract before joining the CCID.
Ederies holds undergraduate (UWC) and post-graduate (Unisa) degrees in Accounting, and a Masters in Business Administration (Curtin University, Australia).
On a sad note, the CCID is saying goodbye to its Precinct 2 manager, Paul Lotter, who joined in 2013 after an internship at Drakenstein Municipality. He is a Stellenbosch University graduate with an Honours in Geography and Environmental Studies.
Says Paul’s manager in the Urban Management department, Richard Beesley: “We refer to Precinct 2 – the area between Riebeek and Wale streets – as a downtown in a downtown, because it is home to all kinds of stakeholders: government, business and residential. Paul has been in charge of coordinating cleaning, beautification and maintenance in this precinct for three years and has forged excellent relationships with these stakeholders. He has waved the CCID flag high, and we are very sad to see him go.”
Paul leaves the CCID to pursue further opportunities in downtown management in the US. Tasso says: “We wish him well, knowing he will leave his mark wherever he goes, as he has with us.”
