High School Drama Festival
The High School Drama Festival gives learners an opportunity to create and present an original drama around a central theme on a professional stage. To afford more schools the opportunity of participating and to accommodate rural schools, a mini-festival in various communities takes place during May. And during the mini-festival, 16 plays are selected to participate in the main festival in August.

Winter Symphony Season: Alissa Margulis
As part of the Winter Symphony Season, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra presents a classical concert by German violinist Alissa Margulis. Mozart and Salieri
Acclaimed choreographer Marc Goldberg has combined a classical story with a 21st-century design to bring a sweeping and cinematic experience to modern ballet as it’s never been seen before. Digitalising his sets, yet retaining the silhouettes of the 17th century, this world premiere is not to be missed as there are only six shows scheduled.

Camp Comedy

Winter Symphony Season: Elgar’s Enigma
The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra’s Winter Symphony Season will conclude with a classical concert by South African recorder player Stefan Temmingh. The Cape Town-born artist now lives in Munich and is setting new standards for his instrument, creating a new recorder tradition and crossing the boundaries of repertoire and sound.

What is South Africa, even?
This group exhibition curated by Carlyn Strydom explores the notion of a country coming to terms with itself as a diverse and complex society. It asks what South Africa signifies for those living in the country in terms of our shared experiences as human beings and our expectations in the community that makes up South Africa. Lhola Amira, Ronald Muchatuta and Art of Brother, the creative collective comprising of Karabo Makenna and Cobus Engelbrecht, will each present a body of work in response to this theme.

Shadows
This body of work by artist Michael Tietz-Geldenhuys explores and celebrates the human form and visage through portraiture and the nude as a site of intimacy and vulnerability, beautiful and imperfect. Working mainly in monotone, volume and weight of form is revealed through the interplay of light and dark and figures and faces emerge from the shadows in an accumulation of passing moments.

Shakespeare in Love

StateoftheART Gallery Award 2018 Finalists Exhibition
After careful consideration of several hundred entries by artists from around South Africa, StateoftheART has shortlisted 10 artists for its inaugural StateoftheART Gallery Award 2018 and now the work will be on show in a special exhibition at the gallery for the final round of judging. The winner will be awarded a R10 000 cash prize and a solo exhibition with the gallery in 2019.

Still Figuring Out What It Means to be a Man
