Bringing bold new ideas to the Cape Town CBD cityscape is FWJK. In 2015, the firm – which comprises development, quantity surveying, architecture and project management divisions – completed the R250 million Touchstone House redevelopment in lower Bree Street. It has since broken ground on the R400m KPMG Place on the Foreshore. And this young, dynamic team has more in the pipeline for the Central City.
One of these currently in the planning stage is the Zero-2-One Tower, proposed for the northwest corner of Strand and Adderley streets (across the road from Cape Town station and Adderley Street’s MyCiTi station).
Comprising 42 storeys and approximately 148m in height, the structure will become the tallest building in Cape Town when topped out. It is set to have 624 apartments, 760 parking bays and 6 000m2 of retail. It will also have a viewing deck, open to the public and set to become a major CBD destination with 360 degree views.
The site is currently home to Old Mutual's Exchange Place - northeast of Strand Street, where many of the CBD’s contemporary buildings are situated. Surrounded by the likes of the Golden Acre, the Southern Sun Cape Sun and the Absa Centre, the Zero-2-One Tower was designed to fit in with its surroundings while still being respectful to the landscape when viewed from afar.
Other proposed FWJK CBD projects include the 36-floor Goldies and the 28-floor 16 on Bree (both next to Portside).
