In the same month we celebrate the one-year anniversary of our e-newsletter, we also say a sad goodbye to its editor, Brent Smith.
A member of the Communications team for the past three years, Brent has not only been the writer behind many of the articles produced by the CCID promoting its work as well as the Central City as a destination, he’s also been behind what has become the organisation’s vibrant and highly sought-after quarterly newspaper, City Views.
Says Communications manager Carola Koblitz: “When Brent originally applied for the post of CCID staff writer, what set him head and shoulders above other candidates at the time was not only his excellent writing talent, but his passionate love of the urban environment. He has a thirst for knowledge that enables him to discover new facts and information about the Central City that astounds even the most knowledgeable of our downtown colleagues and, just for that skill alone, he is going to be missed enormously. His is going to be a very tough act to follow, but I look forward to watching him grow from strength to strength in the publishing environment. He’s a real ‘watch this space’ kind of guy.”
Before joining the CCID in September 2014, Brent had already spent five years in magazine publishing and content marketing, but developed his interest in urbanism long before that (in 2009) while involved in administration on a construction site that was part of London’s 54-hectare Kings Cross Central redevelopment zone.
Brent leaves the CCID to take on exciting new challenges in the online world with New Media Publishing.
“But,” notes Carola, “since he’ll only be down the road from the CCID’s offices in the Central City, we look forward to continuing to exchange urban ideas with him over a cup of coffee.”
